Dan Gilipsky, AAMS®
Vice President, Financial Advisor
Dan provides comprehensive wealth management strategies designed to assist clients in the pursuit of their needs and goals. He utilizes a client-centric approach, focusing on frequent client reviews, active monitoring of all investments, and comprehensive financial plans.
Dan earned a B.A. in Management and Communications from Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin, Dan subsequently received his designation as an Accredited Asset Management SpecialistSM (AAMS®) through the College for Financial Planning in Denver.
Dan is active in community service, having served on two separate nonprofit boards, including the Civic Music Association of Milwaukee. He also served as Treasurer of Smyth Development Corporation from 1999 to 2006.
When not working, Dan spends time with wife, Jill, as well as their three daughters and two granddaughters. Dan is an avid runner, cyclist, swimmer, skier, all-around “silent sports” enthusiast, and active member of the Ice Age Trail Alliance.
Melanie Schmieding, CTFA
Director of Baird Family Wealth
As Director of Baird Family Wealth, Melanie is responsible for the development of HNW and UHNW solutions and resources within Baird Private Wealth Management supporting advisors and their clients. She is passionate about developing long-range strategies critical to sustaining wealth and values over generations.
Prior to joining Baird, Melanie was a Managing Director at Abbot Downing where she led a team that focused on large family offices and multi-generational wealth. She has spent the last 25 years working with HNW and UHNW families.
Melanie is a member of the Family Office Exchange (FOX) and the Purposeful Planning Institute (PPI). A published author and thought leader on the topic of family wealth, she is focused on the development of the qualitative aspects of a family’s wealth. Melanie earned her Master in Business Administration from Boston
University and is a Certified Trust and Fiduciary Advisor.
Timothy M. Steffen, CPA/PFS, CFP®, CPWA®
Director of Tax Planning
As Director of Tax Planning for Baird, Tim is responsible for researching, writing and speaking on important tax issues that impact the clients of Baird. This includes topics related to retirement planning, executive compensation, business owners, legislative changes, and overall best practices.
Tim earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois in 1991. He is a Certified Public Accountant/Personal Financial Specialist, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, a Certified Private Wealth AdvisorSM professional and a member of the American and Wisconsin Institutes of CPAs,
Investments & Wealth Institute (IWI) and the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
Scott Grenier, CFP®, AEP®
Senior Vice President, Manager Of Estate Planning
Scott Grenier joined Robert W. Baird & Co. in 2010. Scott is currently a Financial and Estate Planner for Baird’s Private Wealth Management Group.
Background
Prior to joining Baird in 2010, Scott was responsible for providing financial planning solutions to high net worth individuals and families at Cleary Gull, Inc. Scott works with clients and their advisors on business succession, tax and estate planning strategies, focusing on tax-efficient wealth transfer opportunities.
Education/Designations
Scott graduated from Hamilton College with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and earned a Master of Science in Financial Services Degree from The American College. Scott is an Accredited Estate Planner through the National Association of Estate Planning & Councils and is a CFP® Professional, CPWA®, CLU and ChFC.
Community Involvement
Scott is Past President and current board member of the Milwaukee Estate Planning Forum, member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals and a member of the Financial Planning Association in Southeastern Wisconsin.
Michael Antonelli
Managing Director, PWM Market Strategist
Michael graduated from Purdue University in 1995 with a degree in history and moved to CT to work in the back office of AIG trading. He moved to Chicago in 1997 to work in the back office of Dean Witter's futures division before moving to a 24-hour trading desk in 1999 to execute futures and options for Fimat, a division of Societe Generale.
He got his MBA at the University of Chicago in 2007 before coming to Baird on the Equity Trading Desk in March 2007 as a Sales Trader, assigned to the International team.
Michael began writing a daily email in 2010 as a way to let overseas clients know what happened while they slept. He started posting it online in 2013 and it is now the Bull and Baird blog.
Michael was born in San Diego, CA in 1973. He has a wife, Kimberly, son, William, and a daughter, Katherine and they reside in Whitefish Bay, WI. His passions are travel, wine, and being a semiprofessional bartender.
Kathy Blake Carey, CFA®
Director Of Research & Advanced Planning
As Director of Research & Planning for Baird’s Private Wealth Management group, Kathy Carey oversees the Asset Manager Research, Equity Research, and Fixed Income Research teams as well as the Financial & Estate Planning group. She is a co-portfolio manager for the ALIGN Strategic Portfolios where she is involved with investment, asset allocation and rebalancing decisions, as well as due diligence of the portfolios. She co-manages the Baird Recommended Portfolio and Baird Rising Dividend Portfolio. Kathy also sits on the firm’s Investment Policy Committee.
Prior to rejoining Baird in 2013, Kathy spent nine years as an equity analyst and sector portfolio manager with Mason Street Advisors, the public investment subsidiary of Northwestern Mutual. Before that, she was a senior associate in Baird’s Equity Research department, covering Utilities and Financial Technology for four years.
Kathy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University and an MBA from the University of Colorado–Colorado Springs. She has earned the CFA charter and is a member of the CFA Society of Milwaukee. She holds Series 7 and 24 licenses
